Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta remained tight-lipped about midfielder Thomas Partey’s availability for Wednesday night’s pivotal match against Manchester United.
Partey, a Ghanaian international, missed Arsenal’s emphatic 5-2 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium last Saturday due to a muscle injury.
His absence added to Arsenal’s injury concerns, with Mikel Merino unavailable and Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori picking up knocks during the game.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Arteta confirmed that a decision on player fitness would be made closer to kickoff.
“We’re gonna have a meeting this afternoon,” he said in his pre-match press conference.
“We have done a training session. We monitored and kept some players away from certain activities. They all want to play,” he added.
Arsenal currently holds second place in the Premier League standings, nine points behind leaders Liverpool.
Thomas Partey has been a key figure for the Gunners this season, making 16 appearances and contributing two goals. His potential return could provide a much-needed boost for Arsenal in their bid to keep up the pressure at the top of the table.
