The reporter was assaulted by an official of the National Identification Authority for taking visuals of the ongoing registration exercise at the Local Council M/A Basic School Registration Centre.
The officers closed before time and the reporter sought to inquire from the stranded applicants complaining bitterly.
But this angered the officials who claimed Kafui was capturing the scene to disgrace them and assaulted him.
But for the intervention of the Elmina police, the reporter would have suffered severe injuries. The suspect has since been arrested pending investigations.
But the Executive Director of the MFWA, Sulemana Braimah, bemoaned the continuous attacks on journalists in the country.
He called on the police to investigate the matter and ensure that the officers who abused the journalist are sanctioned.
Mr Braimah also urged the management of the Multimedia Group to file an official complaint about the incident to ensure that justice is served.
