Menzgold CEO reacts to demo; pledges to do the “needful” but no one knows what that means

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of embattled gold dealership firm, Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, has reacted to the demonstration by a cross-section of customers of his firm.

The aggrieved customers hit the streets of Accra on Tuesday morning to protest over their funds which have been locked at the firm following its closure by the Bank of Ghana for breaching deposit-taking regulations.

Reacting to the demonstrations, however, the Menzgold CEO said the customers and for that matter, the demonstrators had fallen for what he described as “misconceptions“.

Shortly after the demonstration by the customers, the man known to many as NAM 1, took to Twitter to make his reaction, saying “Instead of us being resolute, you’ve fallen for the misconceptions and further denigration of my name & the brand.”

Menzgold had announced that it has started paying its customers, a claim that has been debunked by some of the customers in several radio interviews.

In the latest tweet, the Menzgold CEO has, once again, issued another promise, pledging “We shall do the needful now. God knows we defended our collective cause.”

His tweet was met by a number of reactions with a customer replying that they did not want any “long notes.”

It is however not clear if “doing the needful” means paying the aggrieved customers of applying the terms of the contract as he has signed with them.
