Meet Ghanaians to become first female Catechists in Vatican [Photos]

Two women from the Catholic Church, Ghana have made history as they become the first Catechists at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, Rome.

The two Ghanaians were selected upon the recommendations of their respective Bishops through the Chaplain of the Ghanaian Catholic Community in Rome.

They are Mrs Ellen Bosso of Ho Diocese, Peki, who was installed as a Lector of the Church and Madam Cecilia Agyeman Anane, from the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi, who was conferred into the Ministry of Catechist.

This was in a brief ceremony on Sunday, January 23, 2022, by the Head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State Pope Francis.

The duo was part of the eight lay Catholics, comprising five men and three women from across the world.
