Business Development Manager at Mbama Media Consult Limited, Michael Kakra Ekuful has opined how the Ghana entertainment industry can regain its prominence again.
The entertainment industry in the country has been struggling due to various reasons. Some have, however, attributed the dwindling nature of the industry to the outbreak of Covid-19.
However, Mr Kakra Ekuful, who is also a film producer speaking in a radio interview shared that it is about time the media and the entertainment industry stay united to bring the industry back on its feet.
“I have had a lot of discussions with some of the gurus in the entertainment industry and I have a lot of proposals to them of which they were impressed with,” he told Happy FM.
“Most of them are willing to collaborate with me to ensure my proposal on how to revive the Ghana entertainment media industry works.
“For example, I have always recommended that it is about time the media and the entertainment industry have a strong bond and involve in all their work because they can also a key role in reviving the entertainment industry.
“Ghana has come far and for me as an entertainment person, I have a lot to share on how we can bring the industry on its feet.
“Again as part of reviving the industry, I have always proposed that government should tax or charge when movies are premiered at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) but rather inject a lot of money into the industry because it is a big industry of which the government can benefit and we have witnessed that years back,” he concluded.
Michael Kakra Ekuful also appealed to the corporate world to come to the aid of the entertainment industry by having collaborations during events and premieres.
