Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, describing the late pontiff as a man of peace, compassion, and humility.
In a heartfelt statement, Dr. Bawumia noted that Pope Francis lived a life defined by inclusiveness and moral integrity, which endeared him to millions across the globe.
“It is with deep grief that I learned of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis,” the Vice President said. “The late Pope was a man of unwavering peace and compassion. He lived a life of inclusiveness and humility, which was admired by many around the world.”
Reflecting on a personal encounter with the pontiff, Dr. Bawumia recalled his visit to the Vatican a year ago and the profound impression the Pope left on him.
“He left such a remarkable impression on me as one whose true essence and outlook on life was to live pure and right,” he stated.
Dr. Bawumia extended his condolences to the Catholic community in Ghana and across the world, calling on all to draw inspiration from Pope Francis’ legacy.
“May his legacy inspire us as we continue to pursue our individual mandates on earth,” he concluded.
