Former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has confirmed that he is likely to make a return to South African football next season.
Currently without a club after his contract with Black Leopards ended, the experienced Ghanaian coach is in discussions about a potential return to the sidelines.
Konadu revealed in an interview with Graphic Sports that his agent is in talks with several South African clubs regarding a possible move.
“My agent has been calling to see how I’m doing and all that, and once I’m home, I’ll wait for the next step to take,” Konadu said.
“Definitely, I’ve spoken to several clubs. I only have to wait for the season to end, but for now, we don’t have to go into which clubs are talking to me.”
The former Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC head coach hinted that a return to South Africa is likely, given the strong offers he’s received and his agent’s presence in the country.
“Since my agent is based in South Africa, it’s clear the offers are coming from clubs there. So, I may move back next season,” he confirmed.
Konadu also revealed that even the second-tier leagues in South Africa offer better remuneration and attract top talent, making them more competitive than the top-flight leagues in Ghana.
“The second-tier league in South Africa is more competitive than the Ghana league,” he said.
“They pay their players well, and that has attracted top talent. Even during international breaks, matches in those leagues are suspended because many players get national team call-ups,” Konadu added.
