It adjourned the case to January 30, ordering the prosecution to file their witness statement before the said date.
Presenting the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector William Boateng, told the court that the complainant Selina Zakaria is a street girl residing at Coco beach area, Nungua, while Mawuli and Isaac are unemployed and both live at Sankara, Nungua.
He said on January 18, at about 2000 hours Mawuli got complainant’s mobile number on an online app called MEET4U and called her for sex. They agreed to meet at about 0100 hours of January 19, which they did in the Teshie Nungua Estates and Mawuli paid for the taxi fare of the complainant.
He said they then walked to a distance where Mawuli had already positioned one Bashiru, Bright, Kojo, all at large and Isaac wielding cutlass and knives. Mawuli at this stage ordered complainant to be silent whilst advancing on her.
The prosecution said the complainant sensing danger, begun going back and was held by one of them from behind who also firmly covered her mouth with his hand.
He said they robbed her of the aforementioned items after which they pulled her into the darkness but she managed to raise an alarm.
Police Chief Inspector Boateng said a witness in the case heard the complainant’s cry from his window and shouted at them upon which the robbers took to their heels.
He told the court that at about 0830 hours, same day, the complainant spotted Mawuli at the Estate Zongo and informed the Police where he was arrested.
He said Mawuli led the Police to arrest Isaac from whom complainant’s bag was retrieved, whilst the infinix mobile phone was retrieved from Mawuli.
