Marriage Counsellor warns couples to stop dating on social media

-

Joy Wilson, a marriage Counselor and Relationship & Sex Coach has criticized the rising trend of online dating, which seems to be propelled by technological advancements and rise in internet use.

Speaking to hosts of Joy Prime’s morning show, Jay Foley and Emefa Adeti, Joy described herself as a skeptic of online dating, due to the numerous cases of fraud and heartbreaks she has witnessed as a result of the practice.

She explained that although social media could be a great way to meet new people, couples who meet on social media and intent to date need to eventually move their relationship into the real world, since the online space is rife with deception.

“Dating someone online isn’t right” she said. “The person could be faking, or defraud you or do anything to you…there’s nothing wrong with meeting new people [online]; you could be new in the area so you want to get new friends… but dating is a no.”

Prime Morning airs on weekdays from 6 am to 9 am.
