The Asankragwa District Court has convicted Daniel Baidoo for attacking a group of journalists at Adumanya near Asankran Breman in the Western Region.

Baidoo was found guilty on March 26, 2025, and sentenced to a fine of 300 penalty units, totaling GH₵3,600. If he defaults on the payment, he will serve a one-year imprisonment with hard labor.

Baidoo was arrested by the Western Central Regional Police Command on February 21, 2025, after assaulting Citi News’ Western Regional Correspondent, Akwasi Agyei Annim, who was documenting environmental destruction by miners.

The attackers seized the media team’s camera, microphones, and Annim’s mobile phone, demanding that all footage be deleted.

The police later retrieved a Panasonic Lumix camera and an iPhone belonging to the victims. Baidoo was arraigned and subsequently sentenced.
