Man jailed for selling fake DVLA number plates, stickers

The Techiman Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) in collaboration with the Motor Transport and Traffic Transport Department (MTTD) have arrested a 32-year-old man for issuing fake Number plates and stickers to drivers.

The team led by municipal DVLA boss, Isaac Essun, upon a tip off made the MTTD officials arrest Kwaku Ofori at his hide out at Techiman Magazine working on a new number plate to be issued to a client.

He was instantly arraigned before the Tuobodom magistrate court where he pleaded guilty.

The court presided over by his Lordship Abdullai Abdul Baki sentenced Kwaku Ofori to three weeks imprisonment with hard labour.

The prosecutor Emmanuel Ankrah was happy with the ruling added that the sentence would serve as a caution to others who indulge in such acts as the law would deal with them strictly.

The municipal DVLA boss Mr. Essun sent a warning to people who dealing with fake registration to stop the act or risk facing the law when caught.

He also cautioned motorists to directly deal with the DVLA in acquiring licenses etc and desist from dealing with the wayside contractor who deals in such items.
