Some students of the Bongo Senior High School in the Upper East Region have been sent home to forestall chaos after the female students boycotted breakfast and lunch over allegations that some male tutors often peep at them while nude in their dormitories.
The students’ refusal to go for their meals prompted the authorities to shut down the school on Thursday, 4 April 2019.
The teachers have denied the allegation.
However, at a meeting meant to address the concerns of the students, some of them allegedly started hurling stones at the school authorities and in the process damaged some glass windows.
The Bongo police command and some reinforcement from the regional police headquarters were called in to foil possible chaos.
The District Chief Executive for Bongo, Peter Ayinbisa has been meeting with the school authorities on the situation to find a solution.
