Some traders at the 31st December Market in Makola, Accra are protesting against what they describe as imposition of a Market Queen on them by authorities.
They secretary of the of the 31st December Market Women Association, Janet Anu told Adom News Reporter, Kwame Kulenu that whenever there is a change in government, representatives of the party in power in the market assume the Market Queen position to fight for the development for the market.
But since NPP came to power, authorities are trying to bring someone they believe to be NDC member as Market Queen and this they say, they will resist.
The secretary said they have written letters to Party Executives, Accra Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive and the Greater Accra Regional Minister to intervene to ensure peace but to no avail.
The women in order to express their grievances have boycotted the market and have demonstrated to show their dissatisfaction about what is going on.
According to them, until authorities hear their cry, peace will not prevail in the market.
