Mahama’s first challenge as President must be stabilising power supply – John Jinapor

-

The Member of Parliament for Yapei Kusawgu, John Abdulai Jinapor, has highlighted critical challenges for the John Dramani Mahama administration must address, with power supply being the foremost concern.

As the outgoing government continues to struggle with power supply issues and challenges in settling payments to power providers, Jinapor called on the next Mahama-led administration to make resolving the country’s energy crisis a top priority.

In a Facebook post on December 29, 2024, the lawmaker emphasized the urgent need to stabilize power supply to ensure consistent service across the country.

He warned that, failure to address this issue could tarnish the administration’s reputation.

“Parts of Ghana are currently experiencing load shedding from GRIDCo. The first challenge for the next government will be to stabilise power (electricity) supply as soon as possible,” he wrote.

Jinapor’s statement comes in the wake of ongoing concerns and protests from some Ghanaians who are apprehensive about the return of erratic power cuts, often referred to as “dumsor,” which have historically affected the nation.
