Mahama urges newly sworn-in Armed Forces Council to serve with integrity

President John Dramani Mahama has called on members of the newly sworn-in Ghana Armed Forces Council to carry out their duties with wisdom, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to national service.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony on Monday, March 24, President Mahama highlighted the council’s critical role in maintaining Ghana’s stability, enhancing national security, and ensuring the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) operates with the highest level of professionalism.

He reminded the council members that their decisions would have far-reaching implications for the country’s defense strategy and the overall well-being of the military.

The President emphasized the council’s duty to safeguard Ghana’s long-standing peace and urged them to be proactive in identifying and addressing emerging security threats.

“In today’s world, security threats are rapidly evolving—from terrorism and cybercrime to political instability and climate-related security challenges,” he noted.

He further stressed the need for vigilance and forward-thinking strategies in national defense, urging the council to shape the future of the Armed Forces with wisdom and integrity.
