Mahama takes on gov’t for neglecting Yendi-Chereponi roads

-

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has taken a swipe at the Akufo-Addo-led government for neglecting the Yendi-Chereponi stretch despite the year of roads declaration.

The Yendi-Chereponi road is a critical route connecting Chereponi to the Northern region and the rest of the country.

However, its terrible state has left commuters relying on old, unreliable vehicles, praying to reach their destinations safely.

Despite the year of roads declaration in 2020 and 2022 respectively, the construction of the Yendi-Chereponi road has stalled for almost eight years now.

According to the chiefs and people, the situation is affecting farming and their general livelihoods.

The NDC team who are currently on a campaign tour was met with a cry by the Chereponi people over the neglect of their main road linking them to other regions.

This prompted the former President to question government on why such an important road in the North East region had been neglected.

John Mahama as part of his campaign tour of the Northern region, called on the chiefs and people Chereponi to their request and plights and to also discuss his proposed solutions.

Mr Mahama pledged that his next administration will prioritize the reviving of that project to bring relieve to the people.

He promised to channel investment into expanding farming, improving education, health among others, to improve their standard of living.
