The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to revitalise the dormant Komenda Sugar Factory.
According to him, the factory has been neglected under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.
During a courtesy call on the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Mr Mahama expressed his disappointment and concern over the factory’s neglect, highlighting its significance to the region’s infrastructure during his tenure.
He assured the chiefs and people of Komenda that his government would prioritize the factory’s revitalization and operation.
He emphasized that reviving the factory would not only address unemployment but also contribute to the region’s economic development.
“I wouldn’t say we made Central Region heaven, but we left some significant additions to the infrastructure of this region. In the eight years of Prof. Mills and my administration, we built the Komenda Sugar Factory which has been recklessly abandoned under this administration.
“I can assure Nananom and our father from Komenda that when we come, we shall do everything in our power to operationalise the Komenda Sugar Factory so that they can employ the youth in this great region,” he said.
