John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has outlined ambitious plans to revitalize Ghana’s Creative Arts sector through significant investment and support.
At a gathering in Kumasi, Mahama introduced his “Creative Arts Connect” initiative, engaging with key industry figures, including filmmakers, musicians, and actors, to address challenges facing the sector.
Central to his vision is the establishment of a dedicated Creative Arts Fund, which will provide financial backing for the industry, empowering talents and fostering growth.
Additionally, Mahama announced plans to build a Film Theatre in the Ashanti Region, designed not only as a venue for local films but also as a hub for training, talent development, and workshops.
“We must make the creative arts industry attractive and capable of sustaining livelihoods,” Mahama stated, reiterating his commitment to creating an environment where young talent can thrive and envision a future within the arts.
His plans are part of the NDC’s broader goal to create jobs and make the creative sector a key player in Ghana’s economy.
The initiative has been well received by industry professionals, who have long called for enhanced infrastructure and policy support for the sector.
