President John Mahama has assured the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the people of the Ashanti Region that his administration will ensure the region receives its fair share of national development resources.

Speaking at the Manhyia Palace during the first Akwasidae Festival of 2025, President Mahama expressed gratitude to the Ashanti Region for its significant support in the 2024 elections, despite its reputation as an opposition stronghold.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank Asanteman. Many might not consider this the stronghold of my party, but in this election, the confidence and the votes that the Ashanti Region gave us contributed to the overwhelming victory that I scored,” he said.

He emphasized his commitment to ensuring the region’s inclusion in national development, stating, “When we are sharing the national cake, I will make sure that the Ashanti Region gets its fair share.”

The President’s visit also included plans for a private meeting with the Asantehene, where discussions were expected to focus on pressing national issues, including the ongoing conflict in Bawku.
