Mahama pledges alternatives to controversial betting tax

-

Former President, John Mahama has pledged to explore alternatives to the contentious betting tax as part of his campaign strategy for the upcoming elections.

Addressing concerns at the NDC’s Youth Townhall Meeting in Accra, the party’s flagbearer emphasized his commitment to tackling key issues affecting Ghanaians.

He reiterated his vow to abolish both the Electronic Levy (E-Levy) and the tax on betting winnings if elected.

Mr Mahama criticized the E-Levy for not meeting its revenue targets and for imposing unnecessary financial strain on citizens.

His campaign promises reflect a broader effort to address pressing economic challenges faced by the country

Mr Mahama also called for a more streamlined way of exporting local talent abroad.

According to him, the current manner in which professionals leave the country due to economic conditions leaves much to be desired.
