President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described the killing of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama as a “complete waste of valuable life”.
According to him, he is upset with the murder and would ensure those who participated in the killing are punished accordingly.
“I was extremely upset to hear about the news of the death of Captain Mahama. To me it is a complete waste of valuable life. The circumstances do no credit to anybody. It’s very sad to hear about it. I’d like to extend my sincerest and deepest condolences to his wife and family.
“I asked the Vice President to go and visit the family and I believe today my own wife Rebecca has been there to also console the window,” the President said at the Flagstaff House Thursday.
The president added “One thing which is clear is I have told the law enforcement agencies that they should spare no stone and make sure those who are responsible for this act are brought to face the consequences and brought before trial in our courts and justice done accordingly.
“We have to have a country where the rule of law works. I have worked for that all my life and now that I’m in the chair, so I have to make sure that there is meaning to it.”
Seven people arrested in connection with the murder have so far been remanded in Police custody by a High Court in Cape Coast.
