Mahama is the President of Ghana, not a kid – Nana Yaa Jantuah on suspicious flights

-

Presidential Staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has responded to recent claims by Assin South MP, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour on two suspicious flights, stating that President John Dramani Mahama is not a child and is capable of handling national security matters appropriately.

Her comments follow President Mahama’s directive for the security agencies to probe Fordjour’s allegations that two aircraft—AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B—had entered the country carrying cocaine and large sums of U.S. currency.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Madam Jantuah said as the head of security in the country, Mahama had likely already conducted investigations before any public discussions on the matter.

She explained, “President Mahama is the head of security in this country, President Mahama is not a kid, he is the President of Ghana and so how do you think he hasn’t done any investigations even before the issue came out?”

She also defended President Mahama’s decision to instruct national security to liaise with other agencies, noting, “When he is the President, they want to treat him like a nobody and treat someone else like a king.”

Madam Jantuah further criticized opposition members who have called for a committee to investigate the issue, suggesting that if preliminary investigations had already concluded there was no merit to the claims, there was no need for further inquiries.

“There’s something called preliminary investigations, and if they’ve already done their investigations and realized there’s nothing to the claims from Ntim Fordjour, why form a committee like the minority is suggesting to the government?” she questioned.

In her view, the opposition NPP was simply making noise without merit.

“The NPP are just behaving like women, complaining for no reason. Why are they running away?” she said.

Meanwhile, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, has dismissed the allegations as politically motivated and lacking merit.

But Madam Jantuah said Mr. Ofosu’s comments, stating that his assertion that the allegations lacked merit likely reflected the findings of the preliminary investigations.

“Felix saying the allegations lack merit means the preliminary investigations show that indeed the case lacks merit,” she concluded.
