The running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for allegedly taking undue credit for the achievements and legacies of his former boss, the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
During his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Opoku Prempeh visited Mpasatia in the Atwima Mponua Constituency, where he engaged with chiefs, imams, and clergy to promote the Bawumia/Opoku Prempeh ticket.
At a durbar, Dr. Opoku Prempeh remarked that, Mahama’s comments and posture demonstrate a lack of respect for Mills’ legacies.
He said if Mahama claims credit for Mills’ successes, he should also be prepared to accept responsibility for some of the failures of Mills’ administration.
“John Mahama’s comments and actions show a blatant disregard for the legacies of President Atta Mills. If he wants to take credit for Mills’ achievements, he must also be ready to accept responsibility for the failures of Mills’ administration.” He added, “Mahama’s desperate bid for power is evident in his attempts to undermine the legacy of his former boss.”
Dr. Opoku Prempeh also used the occasion to urge people to verify their names on the voters’ register and follow all procedures set by the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure they can vote in large numbers for the NPP.
