Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs, has asked Ghanaians to give former President John Mahama a second chance to govern.
According to him, the former President was overtaken by ‘pride’ but he has since learnt his lessons.

“When you are in power, pride takes over you but he [Mahama] is coming back with a contrite heart,” he stated.
Former President Mahama is seeking to lead the NDC into the 2020 general elections following his submission of a letter of intent to the party leadership.
He faces stiff competition from nine stalwarts including Ghana’s Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.
But the former President enjoys enormous support from the party who believe he is their best bet to recapture power in 2020.

Some party bigwigs, however, disagree with his second coming, insisting the corruption and bad governance practices perpetrated by his administration will work against their chances in 2020.
But Mr Jacobs on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Tuesday, said the former President only heeded to the call of the grassroots.
“It is not Mahama’s will for a second-term but the voice of the people is the voice of God” he added.

Allotey Jacobs maintained that NDC can only win the 2020 elections with a tried and test candidate like John Mahama.
Conceding that there were some excesses in his past administration, the NDC Central regional chairman noted that John Mahama ‘is a new creation’.
He explained that the former President has done an in-depth analysis of what went wrong and has realized only God can make him big so he will not repeat past mistakes if given another chance.
Allotey Jacobs said the faceless people in NDC making ugly noises are just afraid of the prowess of John Mahama.
“The coming of Mahama is like a raging storm; the young man has submitted himself to God and His blessings are all over him,” he claimed.
