President John Mahama on Thursday held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference to enhance regional security cooperation and investment opportunities in Ghana.
The President met with General Michael E. Langley, Commander of the United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM), to discuss sub-regional security threats and the need for increased U.S. support in tackling these challenges.
Key topics included a proposed bilateral agreement for joint maritime patrols to safeguard Ghana’s coastal waters and combat illegal fishing and piracy. The discussions also explored improved coordination between USAFRICOM and the Ghana Armed Forces to enhance security cooperation and logistics.
With regional security as a priority, the meeting reflected Ghana’s efforts to strengthen partnerships to respond effectively to emerging threats in West Africa.
The Munich Security Conference, which gathers global leaders, serves as a crucial platform for dialogue on international security.
President Mahama, who also chairs the Tana Forum, is set to lead a Tana/MSC side event on Deepening Global Fragmentation: Implications for Africa’s Peace and Security.
