Mahama embarks on peace mission to Bawku and Nalerigu

President John Dramani Mahama is embarking on a peace mission visit to Bawku and Nalerigu today, January 14, 2025.

The visit forms part of efforts to address the protracted conflict in the area.

President Mahama during the visit will engage with the factions and key stakeholders to promote dialogue and foster lasting peace.

The visit was announced in a statement issued by the Acting Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Ofosu Kwakye.

“The President is determined to resolve the decades-old conflict in Bawku and will use the visit to engage the conflict factions and key stakeholders to promote dialogue to achieve lasting peace,” the statement added.

The visit aligns with Mahama’s campaign promise to prioritize resolving the Bawku conflict if elected into office.

The President will return to Accra later today.
