President John Dramani Mahama has praised Reverend Stephen Wengam, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, for being a key influence in his faith journey.

Speaking at the burial service of Reverend Wengam’s late mother, Madam Deborah Wengam, on Saturday, January 25, at the forecourt of the State House, President Mahama highlighted the important role that Reverend Wengam and the late Ernest Kwadwo Agyei, former Senior Pastor of the Ringway Gospel Centre Assemblies of God, played in his and the Second Lady, Lordina Mahama’s spiritual lives.

“Rev. Stephen Wengam and Ernest Kwadwo Agyei have been spiritual pillars for my wife Lordina and me. Both of them are responsible for my strengthened faith in Jesus Christ,” President Mahama shared during his tribute.

Madam Deborah Wengam, a devout Christian and a dedicated member of the women’s ministry of the Assemblies of God Church, was remembered for her discipline, selflessness, and the positive influence she had on younger generations.

Reverend Wengam, in his eulogy, spoke about his mother’s instrumental role in shaping his life and ministry. He recalled her unwavering support during his early years as a pastor.

“My path as a pastor at a young age was fully supported by her. She ensured I had everything I needed,” Reverend Wengam reflected, emphasizing her lasting influence.

The funeral service, which was attended by a large number of mourners, including family, clergy, and dignitaries, celebrated Madam Deborah Wengam’s legacy of faith, mentorship, and service.

Her impact continues to inspire many, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those who were touched by her devotion and leadership.
