Mahama assures Northern Region of completing abandoned hospitals, water projects

President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to complete abandoned health facilities, including the Yendi and Tamale hospitals, to enhance healthcare delivery in the Northern Region.

He made this commitment during a visit to the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II, at the Gbewaa Palace as part of his thank-you tour of the region.

“The people of the Northern Region deserve access to quality healthcare. That is why my government will prioritise the completion of the Yendi and Tamale hospitals to ensure residents receive the medical attention they need,” President Mahama assured.

He also promised to undertake water projects to improve access to clean drinking water in the region, saying, “Water is life, and we cannot have a thriving region without reliable access to clean water. My administration will ensure that stalled water projects are revived and completed.”

The completion of these health facilities is crucial, as the Yendi Municipal Health Directorate has been grappling with challenges such as a shortage of critical staff and inadequate infrastructure.

The Yendi Hospital, in particular, is in a state of disrepair, with many of its buildings requiring urgent renovation.

His pledge to upgrade the Yendi Hospital and address the region’s water crisis has sparked hope among residents, who are eager to see these promises materialise.

President Mahama also reaffirmed his commitment to completing all abandoned projects in the region.

“I want to assure you that the various promises made during my campaign will be fulfilled. Every unfinished project will be completed,” he said.

He further highlighted plans for irrigation developments to boost food production, stating, “We have earmarked 10,000 hectares of land for irrigation to support farmers and improve food security in the region.”
