President John Mahama has appointed the former Bongo MP, Edward Abambire Bawa, as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
In a confirmation statement, the Executive Secretary said the appointment is in accordance with Article 195 (1) of the Constitution and Section 10 (2) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Act, 1983 (P.N.D.C.L.64).
However, the appointment is subject to the Constitutionally required advice of the Honourable Minister for Energy, provided in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
The statement also noted that Mr Bawa’s appointment takes immediate effect as of Friday, January 17, 2025.
