Mahama apologises to Doromakese chiefs; curses revokedĀ

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has rendered an apology to the Doromakese chief and elders following an incident they termed as disrespectful.

The Benkumhene, Nana Kwame Gyan disclosed this on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Thursday.

The traditional authorities were up in alms with the NDC and invoked curses after Mr Mahama reportedly snubbed them during a campaign tour in the Bono East region.

Obrempong Danso Abeam and his elders were made to sit and wait for 7 hours following a promise by the former President to pay a courtesy call on Monday.

Unfortunately, the former President visited Doromakese but for reasons not known did not show up despite assurance from the NDC parliamentary candidate and MP, Joseph Mensah, an incident that has sparked anger among the traditional authorities.

However, according to the Benkumhene, Mr Mahama acknowledged he faulted and sent a delegation to the palace on Tuesday morning to apologise on his behalf.

He said they have accepted the apology in good faith with the curses revoked, although they were not targeted at Mr Mahama.

“There is no bad blood between the traditional authorities and Mahama because last four years he visited the palace to engage the chiefs and even addressed the constituents in front of the palace” Obrempong Danso Abeam added.

The chief stated that, their action was to register their displeasure for the disrespect and ill-treatment from NDC members in the area.
