Mahama advocates for scrapping of 8-hour job system in Ghana

-

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has said that the current 8-hour job system being run by most companies must change.

According to him, Ghana’s economy must not go to sleep after 5 pm when most youth are unemployed.

The former President said this at the launch of the NDC Youth Manifesto at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Monday, making a strong case for the proposed 24-hour economy.

Mr Mahama emphasised that, the next NDC government is poised for the creation of jobs and strategies to support firms to run more shift systems to increase opportunities.

The document which has been titled ‘The Pledge’, gives clear strategies of how the NDC intends to cushion the youth.

The slogan is 1,3,3 simply put, same job, three people, three shifts.

Mr Mahama said the NDC believes the 24-hour job environment is extremely feasible and there shall be the political will to manifest the promise.

He has charged the youth to embrace and prepare themselves up for this revolution.
