The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is accusing the government of undermining the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)

According to the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, the government has depleted the scheme’s levy, making access to healthcare, especially for the poor in rural areas difficult.

John Mahama claims that the depletion of the National Health Insurance Levy is jeopardizing the future and well-being of Ghanaians.

“The depletion of the National Health Insurance Levy is jeopardizing the future and well-being of Ghanaians.” He emphasized the impact on vulnerable populations, arguing that the current state of the NHIS undermines its core purpose of providing universal healthcare access.

Speaking to constituents in the Volta Region, Mr. Mahama urged the hundreds of youth and older people present to trust the NDC more than the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“The election is about choosing a candidate who can be trusted,” Mahama said, asserting his belief that he has been more transparent with Ghanaians than his main opponent.

He stated that, the election is about choosing a candidate who can be trusted, and he believes he has been more truthful to Ghanaians than his main opponent.

Mr. Mahama added that, his next administration would have feasible proposals to benefit all citizens.
