Maame Efua Houadjeto has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
She is a former Deputy Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Mfantsiman Constituency in the 2024 elections.
Maame Efua takes over from Akwasi Agyeman, who tendered his resignation about a week ago.
The Ghana Tourism Authority, one of the thirteen agencies under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, is mandated to make Ghana the preferred sustainable tourism destination. They are committed to the sustainable development of tourism through the deployment of the best technology and ICT, effective regulation and standardization.
They also aim to strengthen partnerships (multi-agency partnerships, public-private partnerships, stakeholder partnerships), aggressive marketing and robust investment promotion, uplifting industry service, safety and health standards, and enhancing accountability and shared responsibility.
The Ghana Tourism Authority is a key player in the area of sustainability and believes in leading roles that create positive change in society. Its contributions cut across spheres and involve several partners through the platforms and avenues they create.
