Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has shared valuable insights on what it takes to create great music, emphasizing the importance of alignment and inspiration over technical skill alone.
Speaking to DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, M.anifest explained that while formal music education can provide an understanding of music, it doesn’t guarantee the ability to create remarkable music. He highlighted that inspiration and alignment play a crucial role.
“You can go to school for music like forever, it doesn’t guarantee you inspiration, it doesn’t guarantee you the ability to make incredible music. It guarantees you the understanding or the ability to mimic what’s great. But if you’re not aligned, you can’t, it’s not possible,” he said.
M.anifest also shared his creative process, revealing that he often enters the studio without a specific plan. “Bro, I go into the studio and I have no idea what’s going to happen, but I know with the alignment that I have, something will happen,” he said, recounting how one of his songs was born by accident while looking for ideas for another track.
He also mentioned his backup plan in case his music career didn’t succeed, joking, “If money becomes an issue, I go be DJ. I have an option. No, I make incredible playlists, I’m not even trying to gas myself up, like, because I already love music, so I can get into the deep cuts.”
M.anifest’s comments emphasize that making great music requires more than just technical ability—it requires creativity, inspiration, and alignment.
