Lordina Mahama launches Association of Retired Pastors of the Assemlies of God Church

Former First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama has announced an initiative, through her Lordina Foundation, to provide quarterly free health screening and medication for retired pastors of the Assemblies of God Church.

Speaking at the launch of the Assemblies of God Church’s retired Ministers and Spouses Association and a health fundraising programme in Accra, Mrs Mahama praised Reverend Gaylord Aidoo Dadzie for conceptualising the idea of the Association and seeing it through to fruition.

She emphasised that “the initiative is a powerful testament to our commitment to caring for those who have dedicated their lives to serving God and His people.”

Retirement, she added, can be a time of reflection, rest, and renewal, but also “a time of quietness and loneliness, where the work of active ministry slows down, and the sense of community that once surrounded our retired ministers begins to go down.”

Mrs. Mahama, who was the special guest at the ceremony, outlined the Association’s four key objectives of Representation and Advocacy, Fellowship and Care, Programme Development, and Recognising Experience.

She noted that, the work of the association will help ensure that retired ministers and their spouses who have poured out their lives in service are not forgotten, but are embraced, supported, and celebrated.

On behalf of her husband, John Dramani Mahama, the former First Lady donated to the Association’s Health Fund and promised to organise quarterly screening programmes for the members.
