Local Gov’t Ministry postpones launch of National Sanitation Day

-

The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has postponed the date for the launch of the National Sanitation Day.

The exercise was initially scheduled for April 2, 2025, with a nationwide clean-up exercise slated for Saturday, 5th April 2025.

However, the ministry in a statement explained that the postponement has been necessitated by ongoing stakeholder consultations and preparatory engagements.

According to the ministry, these processes are required to ensure a more inclusive, well-coordinated, and impactful rollout of the initiative.

“The Ministry deeply regrets any inconvenience this may cause and assures the public of its unwavering commitment to promoting environmental cleanliness, civic responsibility, and public health through the National Sanitation Day initiative,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the ministry has said a new date for the official launch and clean-up exercise will be communicated in due course.
