The Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, expressed visible disappointment during a working visit to the Mallam market.
The rehabilitation work on a building, which is intended to serve as a school for the children of traders, has been plagued by shoddy workmanship.
Minister Korsah inspected ongoing market projects and was unhappy with the poor quality of work done so far.
He questioned the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly engineer, who was supervising the project, and emphasized that the government will not allocate additional funds for substandard work.
The Minister directed the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to ensure that the remaining works are completed to a higher standard.
He stressed the importance of quality workmanship in delivering market infrastructure that meets the needs of traders and the community.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of NKA Consult, Dr. Andrews Kwablah responded to concerns raised by the Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, regarding the work done at the Mallam market.
Dr. Kwablah acknowledged that the project is yet to be completed and assured that his outfit is committed to delivering quality work.
He stated that NKA Consult takes full responsibility for ensuring that the project meets the required standards and that his team is working diligently to complete the outstanding tasks.
Dr. Kwablah’s assurance comes after Minister Korsah’s visit to the site, where he expressed disappointment with the poor quality of work done so far.
This visit highlights the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing market infrastructure and operations.
The Minister’s emphasis on quality workmanship and accountability underscores the government’s dedication to delivering value for money in public projects.
