National chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is proposing that his colleague chairman in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo focuses on being an elder of his church.

Mr Freddie Blay explained that, his [Ofosu-Ampofo] position on why assembly members should not be elected on political party lines smacks of hypocrisy and double standards.
The NDC National Chairman is campaigning for a ‘No’ vote to prevent the local communities from being polarised along NPP and NDC lines.
“We are better off with the current system at the Assemblies because partisanship at the Assemblies would bring confusion,” he said to justify his position.

In a riposte, Mr Blay on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, said Mr Ofosu-Ampofo’s comment makes him a political neophyte.
“I think he must not even belong to a political party; he should continue being an elder of a church,” he fumed.
The NPP chairman described as very unfortunate the suggestion by the NDC chairman that voting on partisanship at the Assemblies would bring confusion.

“May be he [Ofosu-Ampofo] will organise unseen soldiers to kidnap people and cause rancor,” he jabbed.
Chairman Blay maintained that next to priesthood, “service to your community is the best thing.”
He noted that if political parties are committed to do politics with a clean heart, with conviction and commitment, people will appreciate it.
“We must make politics clean and good. Political parties are not evil,” he added.
