The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, revealed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Monday.
The ruling party at a news conference in Accra challenged the former President to come clean in the bribery allegation involving European aviation giant, Airbus.
A British court found the aircraft manufacturer guilty of paying bribes to officials of six countries including Ghana to get contracts.
The court judgement also mentioned a ‘Government Official 1’ as the one who led the Ghanaian delegation during the illegal transaction.
The Mills-Mahama administration has been fingered in the matter – an allegation former Attorney-General, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong has vehemently denied.
But, the NPP, led by Mr Asamoa, claimed the ‘Government Official 1’in the judgement was referring to former President John Mahama.
This assertion, Mr Gyamfi claims amounts to defamation of character by an official of the NPP who was obviously “hallucinating.”
In his view, no right thinking individual will make such baseless allegations and expert the former President to respond to.
“Mr Mahama does not have your time; he who alleges must prove so Yaw Buaben Asamoa will be sued,” he said.
The NDC’s National Communications Officer said it was “reckless and irresponsible” on the part of Mr Asamoa to peddle such falsehood.
Mr Gyamfi said he has already discussed with his lawyers and the NPP Director of Communications will soon be served with the suit.
