Mr Nelson B Nkansah said the legislator returned his uncompleted form around 2:30 pm Monday.

The reason for Mr Hammond’s u-turn, having expressed interest in vying for the position after 20 years in office, he said, is still unknown.

The Adansi-Asokwa NPP Council of Elders Chairman expressed shock at the conduct of the outspoken legislator who asked the constituency vice chairman to deliver the forms.

“We are shock but we are yet to hear his side of the story,” Mr Nkansah told Adom FM’s correspondent, Isaac Normanyo in an interview.

Given the current circumstances, only one candidate, Sammy Binfo Darkwa, a 52-year-old Chattered Accountant is in the race.

Mr Nkansah said if no one comes to pick the forms, only Mr Darkwa, who is also an elder of the Pentecost Church in the area, will be acclaimed as the NPP parliamentary candidate for the December general election.
