The premier referral centre has put in place measures to deliver drugs to these patients during the 14-day lockdown.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the hospital, Dr Daniel Asare, who disclosed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Friday said the measure is due to the closure of the Out Patient Department of the hospital.
He explained that, they have contract with the diabetes, hypertension and auto-immune patients to deliver their drugs to them at home.
“We have the contacts of these patients and we deliver their drugs to them because they cannot come to the hospital during the lockdown,” the Korle Bu CEO added.
This, Dr Asare stated has helped them to focus more on the patients at the emergency ward.
“We don’t have an OPD which is congested now and even with emergencies, we already know the patients,” he stated.
On how the delivery service works, the Korle Bu CEO explained that, when the patient calls the facility, the nurses check their folders and deliver the drugs to them.
This initiative introduced by the hospital, Dr Asare said is to ensure people don’t flood the hospital which will be in breach of the lockdown regulations.
