Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh claimed the ambulances, which were commissioned at the Black Star Square by President Nana Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 were not up to the number.

“Though I was not invited, I was there and counted all the vehicles. They were not up to 307 as government claims,” he stated on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Wednesday.

The ambulances procured for the National Ambulance Service under the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives were branded with names of each of the 275 constituencies.

They were handed over to the various representatives in Parliament for their constituencies across the country, but it will be under the control of the National Ambulance Service.

This achievement is being trumpeted by members of the ruling New Patriotic Party as enough justification for four more years in power.

But, Hon. Akandoh said the government deceived Ghanaians by not distributing all the ambulances.

He alleged that about 130 of the ambulances were empty but were commissioned by the President for cheap political points.

“Most of the ambulances were empty so I wonder why the delay. This government is full of deceit,” he added.

Hon. Akandoh, who is also Ranking Member on the Health Committee in Parliament, said it was obvious the government just delayed the distribution of the ambulances for political reasons.
