LGS donates 11 pickups to RCC for effective monitoring

The Local Government Service (LGS) has donated eleven brand new pickups to the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to effectively monitor the activities of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

Head of LGS, Dr Nana Ato Arthur said they had GHC 2,000,000 as their capital expenditure for 2018.

“It is the GHC 2,000,000 that we have used to procure 11 Toyota Hilux pickups,” he said.

Dr Arthur explained that 10 of the 11 will go to the Regional Budget Analyst in the 10 RCCs and the 11th one will be at the Policy planning Budgetary Monitoring and Evaluate Directorate.

“As you all know, plan preparation and implementation is very very important in the RCCs and MMDAs and in the MMDAs, the RCCs are to provide back stock services in the MMDAs and we believe with the provision of these vehicles, plan preparation, monitoring, implementation will be enhanced and will reduce spending on unplanned activities and also fight corruption in MMDAs.

Head of the Local Government Service said they have the assurance from the Regional Coordinating Council that the vehicle will be well maintained so that public service delivery will be enhanced.
