Let’s work to attain 75% of Akuapem North votes – Sammi Awuku urges NPP faithful

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku is rallying supporters to secure 75% of the vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He highlighted that, reaching this target would reinforce the NPP’s dominance and significantly push the party’s agenda of breaking the eight-year governance cycle, a milestone never achieved in Ghana’s Fourth Republic.

Speaking at the ‘Mega Ofie Walk’ at Mampong Coronation Park on Saturday, August 3, 2024, Mr Awuku stressed that achieving this goal would guarantee a resounding victory for the NPP, especially when combined with similar results from other constituencies in the Eastern Region and beyond.

Mr Awuku said in the 2020 elections, the party secured 65% of the popular vote with former candidate Dokuah Asiamah Agyei and called on the crowd to build on this success.

He encouraged them to work tirelessly to exceed this performance and strengthen the NPP’s position against the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“With your support, we can build on our past achievements and make the goal of breaking the eight-year governance cycle more attainable,” he said.

Mr Awuku further framed the 2024 general elections as a choice between progress and stagnation.

He urged voters to carefully consider which party aligns with their interests.

“Elections have profound implications for our future. A vote for the NDC is a vote for regression. The NDC will undo the solid foundations laid by the NPP, as they have done in the past.”

Mr Awuku expressed confidence in Dr Bawumia’s capacity to implement innovative policies in the next government and acknowledged the current challenges faced by Ghanaians.

“Ghana has been fortunate to have had excellent leadership managing the economy through the challenges of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war. Signs of economic recovery are clear, and soon Ghanaians will enjoy the benefits they have been waiting for,” he said.

The event was graced by notable figures including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim, Eastern Regional Chairman, Jeff Konadu, Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong, National Women’s Organiser, Kate Gyamfua, and several parliamentary candidates.
