Let’s groom local players for Black Stars – Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe

-

Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to prioritize the development of local talent for the Black Stars.

His remarks follow the senior national team’s disappointing results in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, where Ghana currently ranks third in Group F, accumulating only two points from two draws and two losses.

This poor performance has put their chances of qualifying for the tournament in Morocco next year in jeopardy.

After the Black Stars suffered a surprising 2-0 defeat on Tuesday, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe emphasized the need to nurture homegrown players for the senior team.

“I can assure you that we have good players in the country and if we camp them for three months and give them the right training, we will see what we can get from these local players for the Black Stars,” the veteran administrator told Asempa FM‘s Ultimate Sports Show.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) must be deliberate about this plan and I believe it will work for us as a country,” the Hearts of Oak board member added.

Meanwhile, Ghana will regroup next month for their final Group F matches against Niger and Angola.

To secure qualification, they must win both matches and rely on Sudan to drop points in their remaining games.
