The Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Sammi Awuku, has said that it is important to give Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, a chance to lead the nation.
In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Mr. Awuku said, that while life’s journey is not always easy, God never promised us an easy journey.
“It has not been an easy road, but let’s give Dr. Bawumia the chance to become president. He has never been president before, so let’s give him that opportunity” he said.
Mr. Awuku noted that the NPP is fortunate to have a credible and incorruptible candidate in Dr. Bawumia.
“The NPP is blessed with a credible, incorruptible candidate in Dr. Bawumia, and we must do everything possible to get him elected.”
He also addressed the current economic challenges, stating, “Even though the economy is tough, we have never cancelled nurses’ allowances, free SHS, or other policies. The government has done a lot for Ghanaians.”
The NPP PC for Akuapem North expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.
“I believe December 7th is ours for the taking.”
Acknowledging that both President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia are not perfect, he said, “Akufo-Addo has not been a saint, nor has Dr. Bawumia.
“But the government has been fair to Ghanaians. I trust Dr Bawumia to take us to the Promised Land, build upon what Akufo-Addo has done, and create a better Ghana.”
Mr Awuku also responded to criticisms from the opposition NDC.
“I don’t expect the NDC to sing praises of the NPP, and so I am not surprised. But the decision that confronts us now is a moment of destiny” he noted.
