‘Let us give back’: Torgbui Xornametor champions community development at CK Kope primary school commissioning

In a moving call for collective responsibility and compassion, the Board Chairman of Star Oil, Mr. Vincent Kaledzi (Torgbui Xornametor), urged Ghanaians to prioritize giving back to their communities.

Speaking during the commissioning of a newly built primary school in CK Kope, Tapa Abotoase, he underscored how individual contributions, no matter the scale, can transform lives and empower future generations.

Torgbui Xornametor’s inspiration for building the school, he revealed, came from the raw excitement and eagerness of the children he met on his first visit to the community. “When I saw the children on the first day, I started with the shade—the way they were rushing, the way they were anxious. That motivated me. Their appreciation and involvement encouraged me to continue,” he recalled.

The school, a vital addition to the community, is more than just a building—it is a promise of hope and opportunity for children who have long lacked access to quality education.

Yet, for Torgbui Xornametor, this is part of a larger mission: inspiring others to share their success with those in need. “I believe there are people in this country who are wealthy enough to help but have not. So, I appeal: let us give back to society. Giving back will create a happier world for everyone,” he urged.

A Lifelong Commitment to Impacting Lives

The commissioning of the CK Kope Primary School is just one of several community projects spearheaded by Torgbui Xornametor. In Nikoto, he facilitated the construction of a culvert, enabling the community to access Lori town—a route previously impassable during the rainy season. His contributions also extend to supporting places of worship, emphasizing the holistic development of the communities he serves.

However, philanthropy has not come without challenges. He recounted a particularly emotional experience where a local church building faced demolition during construction because of structural issues. “The people started weeping because the money for the building was borrowed. But I said, ‘No, let’s take it out and rebuild.’ Their tears reminded me why I do this—because people’s dreams and sacrifices matter,” he shared.

The Heart of Giving: Selflessness and Vision

Torgbui Xornametor acknowledged that contributing to others is often a sacrifice. “I am a human being. I have my needs. I also need money, property, and comfort. But I believe it is only fair to help others grow—especially the younger ones. When they grow better than us, society becomes stronger,” he noted. His philosophy is rooted in a vision where prosperity is shared, and success is measured by the number of lives uplifted.

A Call for Collective Responsibility

As the newly constructed school opened its doors to students, Torgbui Xornametor reminded the community of their role in ensuring the facility serves generations to come. “We need to manage the school well and maintain its standards. A building alone is not enough—it’s what we do with it that matters,” he stressed.

The commissioning ceremony concluded with a standing ovation for Torgbui Xornametor, not only for his generosity but for his challenge to all present: that true wealth lies not in possessions but in the lives one touches.

The CK Kope Primary School stands as a beacon of hope and a reminder that when one person chooses to give back, entire communities rise. Torgbui Xornametor’s work and words will undoubtedly echo beyond CK Kope, inspiring many more to build, support, and uplift the communities that shape Ghana’s future.
