Let Ghanaians know what happened to the Vice President on Friday – NPP

-

Alfred Thompson, a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communications team, has criticised the government for its lack of transparency regarding Vice President Jane Nana Opoku-Agyemang’s health condition.

“I am just worried about the scanty information given because if you just write that something happened on Friday Ghanians need to know what happened on Friday and why she was rushed to the hospital” he argued.

He emphasised that, as a public figure, Opoku-Agyemang’s health status is of significant interest to the Ghanaian people, and nothing should be concealed about her condition.

“Once you put yourself for a political office, everything about you is no longer private, that is what we need to get straight” he argued.

“They came on the premise that they don’t see why government officials should go outside for treatment….have you forgotten what Okudzeto (MP for North Tongu and Foreign Affairs Minister) said, even the President (John Mahama) himself (when in opposition) saying they don’t see the reason going outside for treatment at the time in 2017 when Dr Bawumia has to go outside for treatment”

On Sunday, March 30, the office of the President stated that Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang had received medical treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) after suffering a sudden illness on Friday, 28th March 2025.

According to the statement, she attended UGMC on Saturday following the unexpected health incident.
