La Havre’s Andre Ayew wins big award in France

-

Ghanaian football star, Andre Ayew clinched the prestigious January Goal of The Month Award in the French Ligue 1, showcasing his prowess with a stunning bicycle kick.

The 33-year-old demonstrated his skill upon his return to club action as Le Havre faced off against Lorient, resulting in an exhilarating 3-3 draw last month.

Ayew, who returned to his club following a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign in Ivory Coast, made a significant impact as a substitute in the 70th minute at the Stade du Moustoir – Yves Allainmat.

Despite Le Havre conceding an early goal from Emmanuel Sabbi’s penalty, Ayew swiftly levelled the score with an impressive brace.

After the halftime break, Lorient surged ahead with Ayman Kari’s goal in the 51st minute. However, Ayew, undeterred, rallied his team with another goal in the 85th minute, ensuring parity.

The match saw an intense climax as Mohamed Bamba seemingly secured victory for the hosts with a goal in the 92nd minute.

Yet, Ayew’s resilience shone through once more as he salvaged a draw for Le Havre with a dramatic equalizer in the 94th minute.

Looking ahead, Ayew aims to maintain his stellar performance as Le Havre prepares to face Stade Rennais at the Le Stade Océane on Sunday.
