Kwasi Appiah resumes role on GFA Executive Council

-

James Kwasi Appiah has officially returned to his position as a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council.

The Sudan national team head coach resumed his duties following the expiration of his temporary suspension by the GFA on November 30, 2024. This was confirmed by Appiah’s personal assistant, Asante Forkuo.

Appiah had voluntarily stepped aside from his Executive Council role earlier this year to address public concerns about a potential conflict of interest, especially during the high-stakes doubleheader between Ghana and Sudan in the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

“Per the letter written by Coach Kwasi Appiah to GFA and copied to CAF, he has now returned as an Executive Council Member of GFA,” Asante Forkuo wrote on his X page on December 3, 2024.

“The temporary suspension (Step-Aside) ended on 30th November 2024.”

In the meantime, Kwasi Appiah has achieved a significant milestone by leading Sudan to secure a spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament, which will take place in Morocco.
